Live Satellites For World Poker Tour Main Event
Live satellites are now ready for the World Poker Tour London Poker Classic Main Event. The World Poker Tour announced that live satellites were ready for the inaugural televised event which is presented by Party Poker. The grand event will take place between August 30 and September 4, 2010 at The Palm Beach Casino Mayfair. WPT’s main aim is to attract more audiences and players for poker by inserting abig concept, cutting-edge television production values into the spectacular world of high-stakes, expensive, tournament poker.
Entry Into The Main Event
The Palm Beach Casino located at Berkeley Street, London, hosts £300 +£30 WPT Shootout Satellites for main event seats every night at 7pm. A cap of 36 players tries their luck at the six handed tables. The prize pool is for the first five places. The winner gets a place into the WPT London Poker Classic Main Event. The first prize winner has a chance to win £5,000. The remaining five get paid out of the prize pool.
Genting Casinos London Poker manager, Simon Tomsett told that the first WPT Shootout which had one seat into the Main Event as the first prize at The Palm Beach Casino was a huge success. He added that there were many chances to be eligible for the Main Event between now and the 30th August. He further added that additional satellites will take place at the Kingsway Hall and May Fair Hotels starting 27th August.
About The Event
Participants for the qualifying event include top names like Joe Beevers, Erik Seidel, and Nicholas Levi. They would be joined by pros like Tony G, Alexander Kravchenko, Phil Ivey, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, Sorel Mizzi, Annette Obrestad, Tyron Krost, James Akenhead, Dragon Galic, and Barry Shulman. Doug Dalton will run the lively cash games while jack McClelland is the Tournament Director.
The event will be filmed for TV. WPT President Adam Pliksa said that London, where the event is being held, is a wonderful poker destination. He added that it has always been his company’s major target for ongoing expansion. He was excited about having found great partners in Genting UK, The Palm Beach Casino, and the May fair Hotel London. The £5,000+£300 main event will see a total player cap of 400 on two starting days. The first prize winner will receive a big share of the prize pool money, WPT Champions bracelet, and a WPT title. He will also get a chance to play in the 2011 WPT Championship in Las Vegas. Apart from the live casino-based satellite, people can also qualify for the event online.
