New York and its new Amazing Casinos

New York is in the process of creating new Casinos for those who enjoy gambling. The negotiations are now ongoing but no information is being revealed for the public thus far. The new provision that is being voted aims at expanding the gambling areas in New York, not only for tourists but also because the New York population wants the ability to gamble freely. The Freemont Street Experience is no longer free at the Golden Nugget

If you have been to Las Vegas you will have seen The Golden Nugget downtown. With its shiny lights and its fancy doors, The Golden Nugget is one of the most famous areas to visit when in Las Vegas. But changes are on the way, if you are a guest of the hotel you will now have to pay an extra $5 dollar per night fee. The additional $5 is said to be a fee for the “Freemont Street Experience” , rather than a resort fee.

The Seneca Nation of Indians agrees to a Deal with New York State

For many years a dispute has been raging between the Seneca Tribe of Nations and New York State.

The Seneca tribe owns and operates 3 casinos, one in Niagara Falls, one in Buffalo and another in Salamanca, all of which are obliged to pay a large portion of their revenue to the state for license fees and tax. In return for these payments the tribe expected exclusivity legal gambling in the area.

Massachusetts law regarding preference for Native Americans

A Massachusetts firm is hoping to build a casino in New Bedford, in the South East of the state. A gambling license was held up because preference was being given to a native American tribe.

The constitutionality of this law has become the subject of a federal law suit against the state.

Now the 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) which established the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) to regulate federally recognized tribes’ gaming operations.
