Justice Department Opposes New Jersey’s Legalizing Sport Betting
The US Department of Justice has again opposed an attempt to legalize sport betting in the state of New Jersey. Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association were opposed by Judge Garret E Brown to overturn the federal ban on sports betting.
New Jersey has one of the most progressive legalized sports betting management of US states. A new law was passed in November authorizing a survey which looked into the state’s eight million or more residents and studied their support for legalized online betting. The law has been passed despite the opposition of state governor Chris Christie, by a persuasive margin. The department is of the opinion, that judgment in favor would not be the remedy for New Jersey’s inability at present to offer taxed and state-regulated sports betting. iMEGA claims that the law does not constitute the right to stop the state of New Jersey from entering this sector, as Delaware and Nevada has permission for the same.
