Gaming Control Board Enforcement Division Head To Retire
The head of the gaming control board’s enforcement division is planning on retiring. Jerry Markling is was the head of the unit that investigates criminal activity and regulation violations throughout the Las Vegas Nevada area. He announced his retirement last week, and has been employed by the board for more than 20 years. He has worked for his current division of the board for the last eight years. He has played a key role in helping the division to appropriately monitor criminal activity in a region that was once littered with organized crime.
He has been working in gaming activities and recommended potential candidates that could potentially replace him as he left. He also was in trouble when naming individuals that should be included in the black book, a book of individuals that are excluded from being able to enter casinos and gaming establishments. It will certainly be interesting to see how the use of the black book will change once a new head comes into play. Recently two individuals were recommended to be added to the black book after they were found to be rigging machines to pay out when they had not actually one.
It will be interesting to see how the board as a whole is affected by this retirement. He was widely regarded as a positive force within the board. Following the announcement of his retirement, several staff members commented on him departing, coming up with a wide range of different new policies that can help you to make smart decisions that helped the board better prosecute criminals. The gaming board chairman, AG Burnett stated that he relied heavily on Markling’s opinion when evaluating the different options that were available to him.
Markling’s primary job was to arbitrate disputes between players and casinos to ensure that the right party is arrested. You will find that there are multiple options available to casinos and players that have been accused of criminal activity in Las Vegas, and Markling help to put many of these policies in place to make things run as smoothly as possible before the casinos, and for the players as well. Burnett did not name an immediate replacement but said that he would take the request that were made by Markling into consideration.
The position pays a total of $106,875, and is expected to be filled over the course of the next few weeks as more candidates make their names available, and the individuals that were named by Markling are taken into consideration by the board who is going to be responsible for naming the next one. It will be interesting to see what kind of changes this has on the board, and also what kind of changes we will see from his division in general, which underside a lot of changes after he originally took office and has continued to undergo changes under Markling’s watch. It will be interesting to see who is named as the replacement when it is all said and done, here in the course of the next few weeks.
